Bernardo Villela’s review published on Letterboxd:
In my estimation, last two Liam Neeson vehicles have benefited from marketing that made the film look like just another Neeson action film.
What this one does better than The Commuter is that it doesn’t test credulity as much, has more beneath the surface, and Neeson is in it in a tongue-and-cheek way, slyly lampooning his persona.
A lot of this control likely stems from the man who helmed the Norwegian version guiding this transplanted version. Aside from the fact that I enjoyed this film, I’d be curious to see what wrinkles were added to this version.
Ethnicity and culture is a big theme of the film, I wonder if there are parallels in the original.
Regardless, having diversity (Native Americans, African-American, Asian in this story) that makes an impact and enriches a story is a welcome thing.
