Bernardo Villela’s review published on Letterboxd:
My expectations here were virtually rock bottom, but there is some to like. However, the many human characters don’t allow for as much focus on Dumbo and his mother as there should be.
The score is serviceable, the strong suits of the films are the cinematography and the actors doing what they can with fairly stock characters.
Lastly, I’d rather not have the tips of the hat to the original if they don’t function in new context. Two examples of this occur back-to-back jamming some of the lyrics of “When I See an Elephant Fly” into patter and then the “Pink Elephants” sequence which borders on nonsensical.
