Part man. Part machine. All one bad ass motherfucking movie!! And no...you cant really buy that for a dollar! lol
Look, I don't really have much to say here except that I love ROBOCOP! I fucking LOVE IT!! That's one of my all time favorite movies, a top 10 material...and IMO that's also the best movie Paul Verhoeven ever did...with TOTAL RECALL being second, and STARSHIP TROOPERS being third. I still have to see some of his earlier work he made in his homeland Netherlands, stuff like FLESH+BLOOD, THE 4TH MAN or SOLDIER OF ORANGE, but I doubt that will change my mind much once I finally see them.
But anyway...I had a chance to watch this on the big screen for one night, and one night only, so there was no way in hell that I miss that screening! I watched ROBOCOP many times before, on VHS, DVD, TV and blu ray...but watching it on the big screen, with bunch of other fans...oh man...that was really unbelievable experience!! Once again, I enjoyed every second of it! All the violence, blood, gore, action, cinematography, photography, phenomenal score by Basil Poledouris, great performances by entire cast (with Peter Weller and Kurtwood Smith especially nailing it)...it all looked and sounded just freakin' beautiful!
But of course, ROBOCOP is not only just about violence and gore...its more complex then it meets the eye, with much more layers to the story...its also a great dark humor social satire that works even in this day and age too. Big companies controlling our lives
and getting even more rich, while little people suffer. That's happening, right now, right here! And in the end ROBOCOP is also a (tragic) story about a man who is basically trapped inside of a machine, and is fighting with his memory loss, while trying to put all the peaces together.
But OK...I said that I don't really have much to say here, but here I am, writing like crazy lol. So...let me wrap this by saying that ROBOCOP is one brilliant piece of cinema...all time sci-fi/action classic! Sure, ED209 stop motion special effects are a little bit outdated, and therefore, that's (probably) the only "downside" here, but still, that doesn't ruin this otherwise perfect movie...not in my book!
PS. This should have never get that mediocre remake...the damn thing is not even worth a dollar. Yeah...another bad dollar joke...deal with it haha...
